Haigh and Harper accuse each other of ‘ideological’ approach to transport

During transport questions today, Labour spokesperson Louise Haigh asked the Secretary of State Mark Harper about the service provided by Transpennine Express. She urged Mr Harper to bring in the operator of last resort.

The secretary of state responded: “I said that the service was currently unacceptable in my earlier answer. And one of the points I made is at the moment ASLEF is refusing to do rest day working”.
