Dowden makes his PMQs debut and calls Starmer and Rayner the ‘Phil and Holly of British politics’

The New Deputy Prime Minister made his PMQs debut against Angela Rayner today, as the Prime Minister makes his way to Japan to attend the G7 summit.

Dowden accused Rayner and Starmer of pretending to be ‘lovey-dovey’ for the cameras, and being ‘at each others throats’ behind closed doors. He said that they were the ‘Phil and Holly of British politics’.

What started as a relatively jovial questioning, soon became more intense when questions were raised about NHS wait times and working conditions.
