Bryant asks how HS2 can be considered an England and Wales project after further delays

In an urgent question today on delays to HS2, Labour MP Sir Chris Bryant questioned whether the service will begin operating in his lifetime.

Sir Chris said: “I cannot see from what we’ve heard today that there’s any chance of any of these trains chugging into central London in my lifetime”.

He added: “If he [the minister] will come to the Rhondda and explain to the people in a public meeting in the Rhondda why this is an England and Wales project and they’re getting no funding. Then he can have my support, but otherwise he can forget it.
