Brexiteers split over EU retained law bill

Brexiteers are split over the EU Retained Law Bill which would purge the UK statute book of EU regulations in the wake of the 2016 Brexit referendum.

Jacob Rees-Mogg, the Conservative MP for Somerset, is a known supporter of the bill. He said the bill gives the UK “greater sovereignty”.

Conversely, Conservative MP and fellow Brexiteer David Davis said: “[The bill] is not democratic, … it’s also going to be inefficient and possibly incompetent”.
