Date set for Queen’s speech

The state opening of Parliament will take place on November 23rd, it has been announced.

The date has been confirmed by the office of the Leader of the House, Peter Hain.

The annual set piece in which the Queen announces the Government’s programme of legislation for the next session of Parliament could be particularly significant this year.

It is expected to be the last chance for the Government to introduce legislation before a General Election.
