Prince William to meet Diana’s ex-butler

Prince William will meet Paul Burrell to discuss the former butler’s revelations about his mother’s life, Clarence House has confirmed.

But Prince William’s official spokesman refused to name the place or time of the meeting.

Mr Burrell’s book A Royal Duty was published on Monday.

He has insisted the book was a “loving tribute” to Diana, Princess of Wales.

But Princes William and Harry, slammed it as a “cold and overt betrayal” of their late mother.

Mr Burrell insists the Royal Monarchy has “nothing to fear” from his revelations as he remains a loyal servant of the Queen.

On Tuesday, elements of the press questioned whether Mr Burrell actually possessed the letters from Diana which he used as the basis for his expose. Some journalists claimed he was quoting from memory what Diana had said to him before her death more than six years ago.

In one of the letters, purportedly in Burrell’s possession, Princess Diana had predicted her own death in a car accident 10 months before she and lover Dodi al Fayad’s fatal accident in a Paris underpass in August 1997.

Mr Burrell answered irate callers on BBC Radio Two yesterday. One listener said: “You were given a position of trust and you betrayed that trust, What kind of man does that make you? A man on a scaffold, I would like to think.”
