Biography

Stuart Andrew entered parliament for the first time on the 6th May 2010, as Conservative MP for Pudsey with a majority of 1,659.

Stuart was born in 1971 when he spent the first few years of his life on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales. He later attended Ysgol David Hughes in Menai Bridge.

After leaving school he started his career in the Charity and Voluntary sector working as a fundraiser for the British Heart Foundation. Since then he has worked for Hope House Children's Hospice, East Lancashire Hospice and now heads the fundraising team at Martin House, Yorkshire's hospice for children and young people with life limiting, terminal illnesses. Stuart lives in Rawdon.

Stuart was elected to Leeds City Council in 2003 when he won the Labour seat of Aireborough. Following boundary changes, he now represents the Guiseley and Rawdon ward.

He was the Lead Member for the Development department and has particular responsibility for Transport policy in the City, during which time he has helped to draw up the Local Transport Plan for West Yorkshire with other members of neighbouring authorities.

He stood for Parliament in 1997 in Wrexham.
