Gavin Barwell

Biography

Gavin Barwell was elected Conservative MP for Croydon Central on 6th May 2010 with a majority of 2,969.

He had been a local councillor for nearly twelve years and was the Cabinet Member for Community Safety & Cohesion. He is also a member of the Court of Governors of the Whitgift Foundation and Chairman of the Governors at Trinity School.

Gavin was selected to be the Conservative candidate for Croydon Central at the 2010 General Election on 13th February 2008.

From October 2003 to May 2006, Gavin was the Chief Operating Officer of the Conservative Party. He stood down from that role in May 2006 when the Conservatives took control of Croydon Council.

He is married to Karen, a speech and language therapist and has three sons.
