Video: Doctor takes on Cameron and Clegg

Tuesday, 14 June 2011 5:40 PM

An irate surgeon gives the prime minister a talking-to for letting dirty, dirty media types near patients.

The surgeon's defiant attitude to the most powerful man in the country came as David Cameron made the largest political U-turn of his career.

After having been forced into the humiliating retreat by doctors up and down the country, Cameron was able to retain his sang froid as he was bashed up by one more doctor.

Not literally, of course. As the video shows, it's actually the tie-wearing camera crew which the doctor objects to.

"Excuse me. I'm the senior orthopaedic surgeon in this department," he explains quickly, before demanding that the TV crew get out – and quick.

Cameron and Clegg appear bewildered at first. They stand up. Clegg makes to speak, but the bow-tie wearing surgeon doesn't give him a chance.

"Come and talk to me," a minder tells the surgeon, who is ushered away.

At this point the prime minister demonstrates his leadership qualities. "Why don't you disappear?" he tells the camera crew.

"I still mean it!" the surgeon barks from stage right.

"No, absolutely, I agree with you!" Cameron yelps, his voice getting higher and higher. And then, commander-in-chief style, he adds: "Out."
