Scott Mann was first elected as the Conservative MP for Cornwall North in 2015, being reelected in 2019 with a majority of 14,752.
As its name suggests, the Cornwall North constituency is found to the north of Cornwall bordering Devon. Containing Bodmin Moor, and a stretch of the north Cornish coast, it is the largest and most rural of the Cornish seats. It contains the towns of Bude, Launceston, Padstow, and Wadebridge. The seat has traditionally been a Liberal Democrat – Conservative marginal constituency. Some three fifths of the local electorate backed Brexit in the 2016 EU referendum.
Mann was appointed as a Government Whip (Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury) in October 2022.
He was briefly Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs between September and October 2022. He was an assistant government whip beween January 2021 and September 2022.
He was previously a PPS at the Treasury in 2018, but resigned in protest at Theresa May’s Brexit proposals. Mann was a strong supporter of Brexit.
Mann was born in Wadebridge in 1977.  He went to school in the town and has worked and lived in north Cornwall all of his life. He was employed as a local postman for twenty years before being elected to Parliament.
Mann served as a Councillor on North Cornwall District Council between 2009 and 2016. He previously resigned as deputy leader of the Conservative group in opposition to plans to spend a large amount of public money on the building of a sports stadium.
Scott Mann has been a member of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Vaping, and Vice Chair of the Groups on Video Games and E-sports, Whistle blowing, Celtic Nations, and Football.
According to the Register of Members Interests, he employs his partner, Nicola Wade, as a part time Secretary. The couple have a daughter. He supports Plymouth Argyll.
