Osborne, Kate

Kate Osborne is‌ ‌the Labour ‌MP‌ ‌for Jarrow, having‌ ‌first‌ ‌been‌ ‌elected‌ ‌to‌ ‌Parliament‌ ‌in‌ 2019. Osborne was reelected with a‌ ‌majority‌ ‌of‌ 7,120 ‌in 2019.

The Jarrow constituency‌ ‌is‌ ‌found‌ ‌within‌ ‌the‌ ‌county‌ ‌of‌ ‌Tyne and Wear and‌ ‌covers‌ the towns of Jarrow and Boldon on the southern banks of the river Tyne, to the west of Gateshead.  Once the starting point of the famous Jarrow march in 1936, Jarrow has been a safe Labour seat ever since the Second World War.

Osborne previously worked for the Royal Mail for over twenty years. She is a member of the national executive of the Union, Unite.

A former foster carer, Osborne is Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Foster Care.

Osborne was elected to North Tyneside Council in 2017. She is married to Pamela Brooks, a fellow north Tyneside Councillor.

A supporter of Jeremy Corbyn during his time as Labour leader, Osborne is positioned firmly on the left of the Labour Party.  She is a member of the Socialist Campaign Group of MPs.

She is an outspoken campaigner on trans and LGBTQ+ rights.
