Fellows, Marion

Marion Fellows was first elected as the Scottish National Party MP for Motherwell and Wishaw in 2015, being re-elected in 2019 with a majority of 6,268.

Motherwell and Wishaw is found in North Lanarkshire to the south East of Glasgow.  The seat contains the towns of Motherwell and Wishaw, and the villages of Carfin, Cleland, and Holytown.  Once a Labour stronghold, it was gained by the SNP in 2015. The local economy was once dominated by the steelworks and heavy industry.  It now contains a basis for the whisky distillers, William Grant & Sons, as well as housing a number of call centres.

Prior to her election to Parliament, Marion Fellows taught business studies at West Lothian College for nineteen years.

Fellows was also an active trade unionist within the Educational Institute of Scotland. She was a Councillor on the North Lanarkshire Council between 2012 and 2015.

Fellows lost her husband, George, to cancer in 2018.

Born in 1949, Fellows studied accountancy and finance at Heriot Watt University.

She is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Post Offices, and Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Global Education, Unconscious Bias, Fairs and Showgrounds, Alternative Lending, Financial Education for Young People, Food Banks, Italy, and Poland.
