Jardine, Christine

Christine Jardine is the Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh West, having first been elected to Parliament in 2017.  She was reelected with a majority of 3,769 over the SNP in 2019.

Traditionally a Liberal Democrat seat, this constituency contains Edinburgh airport and the coastal town of Queensferry at one end of the Forth Bridge.

Christine Jardine was appointed as Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson in August 2020.

Born in 1960, Jardine was educated at the University of Glasgow. She worked as a journalist for BBC Scotland, as Editor of the Press Association in Scotland, before teaching journalism at the University of West Scotland and the Scottish Centre for Journalism Studies.

She was a media advisor to the Liberal Democrats during their period in the Coalition Government between 2010 and 2015.

Jardine is widowed with one daughter.

At Westminster she is Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on the Union, China, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Choice at the End of Life, Hospitality and Tourism, Immigration and Detention, Media, and Access to Medical Cannabis under Prescription.
