Adam Holloway was elected as the MP for Gravesham in 2005, and we reelected in 2019 with a majority of 15,581.
The constituency of Gravesham is found in the north western corner of Kent, and spreads down from the town of Gravesend on the southern banks of the River Thames to include the smaller town of Meopham to the south.  Gravesham is the most ethnically diverse seat in Kent, and there is a large Sikh population within Gravesend itself.
This was once a key marginal that typically changed hands with the government of the day, and this area was held by the Labour Party between 1997 and 2005. However with lose to two thirds of the electorate here backing Brexit in the 2016 EU referendum, Gravesham has become a much safer Conservative seat in the last few elections.
Holloway was appointed a government whip in September 2022 under Liz Truss, but was not reappointed to the government when Rishi Suank became prime minister in October 2022.
He had previously served as an Assistant Government Whip under Boris Johnson between July and September 2022.
Born in 1965, Holloway was educated at Cambridge University and holds an MBA from Imperial College London.
During his gap year before attending university, Holloway spent time in Afghanistan with the resistance fighting against the Russians.
Holloway attended Sandhurst, and previously served in the army. He is a former Grenadier Guards Officer.  He served as an armoured infantry platoon commander in Cold War Germany and as a Captain in Iraq during the First Gulf War. He was also an instructor for trainee guardsmen.
Prior to being elected to Westminster, he had also worked as a Television Reporter for Newsnight, World in Action, and ITN.
When working for ITN, he covered the issue of child prostitution in the Philippines, and was based in Sarajevo for ITN during the wartime siege of the City.
Holloway’s television career also included stints as an undercover reporter, and his “No Fixed Abode” series where he lived homeless in London for about three months, showing the plight of the genuinely destitute, won a number of awards.
He also posed as an economic migrant at the Sangatte refugee camp in Calais.
Holloway was a strong supporter of Leave in the 2016 referendum on Brexit. He regularly voted against Theresa May’s Brexit withdrawal agreement. He backed Boris Johnson in the 2019 Conservative Party leadership election.
