Rees-Mogg and the Speaker raise concerns that certain departments are ‘incompetent’ at replying to MPs’ correspondence

During the House of Commons business statement today, Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg raised concerns that departments are slow in replying to correspondence, citing DLUHC as a particularly egregious example.

The Speaker intervened to add: “It’s becoming more and more apparent that members and backbenchers in particular cannot represent their constituents when when we have departments that do not answer the correspondence in good time”.
