PMQs: Keir Starmer calls ‘shame’ after PM makes transgender dig

At prime minister’s questions today, Labour leader Keir Starmer called “shame” after Rishi Sunak made a dig at his stance of self-identification.

In an exchange about the PM’s pledge to cut NHS waiting times, Sunak said: ‘It’s a bit rich, Mr. Speaker, to hear about promises from someone who’s broken every single promise he was elected on.

“I mean, I think I counted almost 30 in the last year: pensions planning, peerages, public sector pay, tuition fees, child care, second referendums, defining a woman. Although, although in fairness, that was only 99 per cent of a U-turn”.

Keir Starmer responded: “Of all the weeks to say that when Brianna [Ghey’s] mother is in this chamber, shame”.
