YouGov’s chief executive and co-founder Nadhim Zahawi is preparing to step down from the role after being selected as a Tory party candidate for Stratford-on-Avon.

Stephan Shakespeare, who co-founded the company, will take over the role. If Mr Zahawi becomes an MP he will stand down as chief executive.

The seat is currently held by Conservative John Maples, one of the many MPs stepping down at the election.

The seat had a Tory majority of 12,184 at the 2005 election.
