Baroness Thatcher has returned home after spending two weeks in hospital for a broken left arm.

The ex-prime minister, 83, had a pin inserted in her arm and spent two weeks recovering in London’s Chelsea and Westminster hospital before being discharged today.

Waving, with her right arm, to reporters and well wishers on her doorstep this morning, Lady Thatcher looked to be on the mend.

She was said by her spokesman to be “in good spirits and recovering well”.

The broken arm was the latest set back to the health of the ex-prime minister who has suffered a number of minor strokes in recent years.

Ill health forced her to abandon her regular public speaking engagements in 2002 but she still makes public appearances.
