Suicide car bombers attack US military base

Three suicide car bombers attacked at US military base in Iraq on Thursday, killing one soldier and wounded 14.

It is the third suicide bomb attack in a week.

The bomb, hidden in a furniture truck, was detonated outside the 82nd Airborne Division’s Champion base near Ramadi, 60 miles west of Baghdad.

US troops had found a weapons cache north of Baghdad with sufficient ammunition to launch several major strikes.

Separately, the main US headquarters in central Baghdad came under attack at around midnight on Thursday.

Two missiles were launched in the vicinity of the “green zone,” an official reported.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.

On Tuesday, a suicide car bomb exploded at the gates of the US Army’s 101st Airborne Division, wounding nearly 60 US soldiers.
