Bosnich arrested for assault

Former football star Mark Bosnich has reportedly been arrested after allegedly assaulting ex-girlfriend Sophie Anderton whilst drunk.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United goalkeeper, 31, was detained following an incident in Knightsbridge, west London on Tuesday evening.

Model Anderton, 26, was taken to hospital suffering bruising and later discharged.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman confirmed that a 31-year-old man had been arrested in connection with an allegation of assault and said it appeared to have been a domestic incident.

She said that he had been taken to Notting Hill police station where he was bailed and is due to return to police on December 4th.

Australian Bosnich was suspended from playing football for nine months following a failed drugs test.

The keeper tested positive for cocaine, though he insisted he was spiked and had not willingly taken the drug. He was treated for depression last year as a result of the suspension.

His ban finished in September but he has no current football club.
