Arrests over skydiver murder

Two men have reportedly been arrested in conjunction with the murder of skydiver Stephen Hilder.

The 20-year-old army cadet from Hereford plunged 13,000ft to his death when both his main and reserve parachutes failed during a competition at the Hibaldstow Airfield in north Lincolnshire on July 4th.

Evidence of sabotage was discovered and police believe his parachute cords were deliberately cut. Mr Hilder was an experienced skydiver who had completed numerous jumps successfully.

Police investigating the incident conducted hundreds of interviews with people who knew Mr Hilder, including fellow students at the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, Oxfordshire and Bristol University.

Humberside Police announced that the two men were arrested at 12:45BST on Wednesday on suspicion of murder.

Both men are in their 20s and are being held at separate police stations where they are being interviewed by detectives.
