Police seize Moroccan bomb suspects

It has been reported that police in Morocco have arrested at least 30 men in connection with the Casablancan bombings of last week.

Police in Casablanca have confirmed that they are currently adopting a line of enquiry around the Islamic militant group Salafiyah Jihadiyah. It is believed that they may have links to Osama Bin Laden and al-Qaeda.

The Casablanca explosions came within four days of the Saudi Arabian blasts. At least 41 people were killed and at least 100 injured in the five blasts which hit Casablanca within 30 minutes of each other.

As a result of their closeness, the Interior Minister of Morocco has stated his belief that they are connected. He continued to confirm that there were similarities between the two blasts.

The Interior minister also explained what leads they had so far. He believed that a group of 14 people split up into five teams to perform the deadly attacks.

So far extra police and soldiers have been deployed across the city – especially outside hotels and restaurants – and checkpoints have been set up.

Mr Sahel continued to confirm that the attacks bore ‘the hallmark of international terrorism.’

Since Friday’s events, the United States has offered to send experts to Casablanca to help with the investigation.
