New Iraq arrest announced

U.S. Central Command has announced that Ghazi Hamud al-Adib has been taken into custody in Iraq.

Ghazi Hamud al-Adib was the Kut District regional chairman of the Baath party, and is number 32 of the USA’s most wanted list of 55 members of the old Iraqi regime that was famously turned into a pack of cards.

Around a third of the 55 most wanted Iraqis are now in coalition custody, and this is the second member to be taken this week.

Dr Huda Salih Mahdi Ammash was also found on Monday, and is the only female member of the regime on the list.

She is known in Washington as Mrs Anthrax, for her involvement in Iraqs weapons of mass destruction programme. Her formal position was as a regional commander of the party and as chair of the youth and trade bureau.
