No 10 says no plans to introduce compulsory Covid vaccines

The Prime Minister’s spokesman has said there are “no plans” to introduce vaccine mandates.

He said today that the government has “set out our policy on this and we’ve said it’s not something that we would look to introduce.

“You’re aware of the changes we made in terms of social care settings and for NHS workers, given the importance of protecting the most vulnerable in our society. But there’s no plans above and beyond that in that regard.”

Covid vaccinations could become compulsory in Germany from February, after the issue is set to be debated in its parliament.

Last week Austria became the first western nation to impose compulsory vaccinations, while Greece is set to make jabs obligatory for people over 60.
