Developing a circular plastics economy

When tackling litter, plastics are the number one culprit. Every year, around five million tonnes of plastic is used in the UK, roughly half of which amounts to packaging.

Plastic waste is largely non-biodegradable, causing serious damage to our natural environment.

Dr Pauline Deutz is a lead researcher at the Plastics Collaboratory at the University of Hull. Dr Deutz explains why developing a circular plastics economy is a key solution in overcoming society’s wasteful relationship with plastics.
