Wilson, Munira

Munira Wilson is‌ ‌the‌ Liberal Democrat MP ‌for‌ Twickenham, having‌ ‌first‌ ‌been‌ ‌elected‌ ‌to‌ ‌Parliament‌ ‌in 2019‌ with‌ ‌a‌ ‌majority‌ ‌of‌ 14,121.‌

The Twickenham constituency is‌ ‌found‌ ‌within‌ South West London and‌ ‌covers‌ Twickenham, Hampton and Teddington.  It is currently the safest Lib Dem seat in the country and was formerly represented by the party’s former leader, Sir Vince Cable.   Found on the banks of the Thames in an affluent part of South West London, the constituency is home to the Twickenham rugby stadium.

Wilson is currently the Liberal Democrat spokesperson on education.  She previously served as the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Health, Wellbeing and Social Care.

Born‌ ‌in 1978, Munira Wilson studied Modern Languages at Cambridge University‌.  She previously worked in a number of roles in public affairs including at the pharmaceutical companies, Merck and Novartis, and with Save the Children.

A former councillor on Richmond Borough Council between 2006 and 2010, Wilson is a strong opponent of the expansion of Heathrow airport.
