Sambrook, Gary

Gary Sambrook is‌ ‌the Conservative‌ MP‌ ‌for‌ Birmingham Northfield,‌ ‌having‌ ‌first‌ ‌been‌ ‌elected‌ ‌to‌ ‌Parliament‌ ‌in‌ 2019, gaining the seat off the Labour Party with a majority of 1,640.

The Birmingham Northfield constituency‌ ‌covers the Longbridge and Northfield areas on the south western outskirts of Birmingham.  Once held by the Conservatives during the time of Margaret Thatcher, Sambrook’s victory in 2019 marked the first time that the Conservative Party had won a Parliamentary seat in Birmingham for over a quarter of a century.  Some 61.8% of the electorate voted Leave in the 2016 Brexit referendum.

Born‌ ‌in 1989, ‌Gary Sambrook was educated at Birmingham City University.  He worked as a political researcher before being elected to Parliament, and was elected to Birmingham City Council in 2014.

Morris is openly gay, and has called in the House of Commons for a ban on so-called LGBT conversation therapy.

At Westminster Sambrook serves as executive secretary of the 1922 committee of conservative MPs.

In early 2022, media reports suggested that Sambrook was part of the pork pie plot of MPs elected in 2019 that were hostile to the PM in the light of the partygate affair.

Sambrook is also a freemason who in the past has criticised the stereotypes attributed to freemasons.

GHe is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Belgium, Japan, Luxembourg, International Trade and Investment, and Micromobility.  He is Chair of the All Party Group on Trade and Export Promotion
