Paul Scully was first elected as the Conservative MP for Sutton & Cheam in 2015, being reelected in 2019 with a majority of 8,351.
The constituency of Sutton and Cheam is found in south west London along the border with Surrey. Unlike most London constituencies, a narrow majority of the people in Sutton and Cheam supported Brexit in the 2016 EU referendum.  A long time Liberal Democrat – Conservative marginal, the Lib Dems had previously held this seat between 1997 and 2015. The constituency still retains its own grammar schools.

He has previously served as the Minister of State (Minister for London) in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Under Secretary of State for Small Business, Consumers and Labour Markets, and as Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party.
Born in 1968, Scully was educated at Reading University. He has Burmese heritage, and claims to be the first British MP to do so. He takes an active interest in human rights issues in Burma.
Having worked as a researcher to a number of Conservative MPs, he also ran his own public relations and lobbying firm, Nudge Factory, before being elected to Parliament.
Scully served on Sutton Council between 2006 and 2010.
Scully supported Leave in the 2016 Brexit referendum, and has admitted to voting for the Referendum Party in his youth.
