Paul Howell is‌ ‌the‌ Conservative MP‌ ‌for‌ Sedgefield‌,‌ ‌having‌ ‌first‌ ‌been‌ ‌elected‌ ‌to‌ ‌Parliament‌ ‌in 2019, ‌gaining the seat from Labour with‌ ‌a‌ ‌majority‌ ‌of‌ 4,513.

The Sedgefield constituency ‌is‌ ‌found‌ ‌within‌ ‌County Durham.  It is quite a large rural constituency, which includes the towns of Sedgefield, Newton Aycliffe and Ferryhill.  Prior to 2019, it had been represented by Labour at Westminster solidly since 1935, and is famous for being the former constituency of Tony Blair.  A former mining seat, whose demographics have changed over the years, some 59.4% voted Leave in the 2016 Brexit referendum.

Born‌ in 1960, Paul Howell secured an MBA from Durham University, and is a former accountant and finance director.  He is Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group, Accounting for Growth.

He was elected to Durham County Council in 2017 and to Darlington Borough Council in 2019.  Howell did not join the Conservative Party until 2010, therefore only doing so as he turned fifty,

The owner of a property portfolio, his entry in the 2021 Register of Members Interests declares some nine houses in Darlington, five houses in Durham, and two flats in County Durham.

He is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on adult education, bioethanol, coalfield communities, council housing, design and innovation, financial education, holocaust memorial, housing and planning, industrial heritage.  He is the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Left behind neighbourhoods,
