Antony Higginbotham is the Conservative MP for Burnley, having first been elected to Parliament in 2019, gaining the seat off the Labour Party with a majority of 1,352. He is the first Conservative to represent Burnley since the First World War.
The Burnley constituency is focused on the former textiles town of Burnley and some surrounding areas in the east of Lancashire. The seat has a notable Asian community said to number in excess of 10,000 voters. Exactly two thirds of the local electorate backed Brexit in the 2016 EU referendum.
Born in 1989, Higginbotham grew up in Lancashire and was educated at Hull University.
Before becoming an MP, Antony worked for NatWest Bank as a regulatory affairs manager.
Higginbotham joined the Conservative Party at the age of 16.  He is one of 45 openly gay MPs.
At Westminster he is Vice Chair of the All Party Groups on the Armed Forces Covenant, and Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
