Harriett Baldwin was elected as the Conservative Member of Parliament for West Worcestershire in 2010, being re-elected with a majority of 24,499 in 2019.
West Worcestershire is a rural seat that sits along the Rivers Severn and Avon, and is found along the entirety of Worcestershire’s western border. The seat contains the Malvern hills and includes the towns of Malvern and Upton upon Severn.  The archetypal safe seat, this area of the UK has voted Conservative ever since the mid 1830s.
Baldwin served in the government of Theresa May serving as Minister of State at the Foreign Office (2018-19), and Minister for Defence Procurement (2016-2019). She was Economic Secretary to the Treasury between 2015-2016 under David Cameron.
Baldwin was removed from the government by Boris Johnson in 2019. She backed Jeremy Hunt in the 2019 Conservative Party leadership election.
In November 2022, Baldwin was elected by fellow MPs as the Chair of the Commons Treasury select committee.
Baldwin currently chairs the British Group on the Inter Parliamentary Union, co-chairs the International Parliamentary Network for Education and is a member of the UK delegation of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
Baldwin is an opponent of the government decision to cut its spending on overseas aid.
Harriett Baldwin was born in Hertfordshire and spent her early childhood in Cyprus. She read Modern Languages (French and Russian) at Oxford, receiving First Class Honours and later obtained an MBA from McGill University in Canada.
Born in 1960, she is married to Jim Baldwin, a businessman and television producer. The couple have three grown up children. Prior to becoming an MP, Baldwin had a 20 year career in finance, specialising in currency markets for pension funds.
Harriett Baldwin is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Sudan and South Sudan; Ageing and Older People; Global Education. She is Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Women in Enterprise; the United Nations; Ethiopia and Djibouti; Yemen; the British Museum; the Commonwealth Games; Fair Business Banking; and Social Enterprise.
