Simon Fell is‌ ‌the‌ Conservative ‌MP‌ ‌for‌ Barrow and Furness, ‌having‌ ‌first‌ ‌been‌ ‌elected‌ ‌to‌ ‌Parliament‌ ‌in‌ 2019‌, winning the seat off the Labour Party with a majority of 5,789.
The Barrow and Furness constituency is‌ ‌found‌ ‌within‌ ‌the‌ ‌south west corner of the county‌ ‌of‌ ‌Cumbria. It spreads out from the dockyard town of Barrow in Furness, and into the Lake District to include Ulverston and Dalton in Furness.  The local economy is dominated by BAE systems, with the dockyard in Barrow being the centre of the British submarine building industry. Traditionally a Labour seat, the Conservative Party has only typically won Barrow in its landslide years, such as 1983, 1987, and now 2019.
There is a large offshore wind industry off the Barrow coast, and Simon Fell is the Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Marine Energy.
Born in 1981, Simon Fell grew up in this constituency, and graduated from the University of Warwick with an honours degree in English Literature.
After university, he ran his own telecommunications business. He later became the Director of Cifas, a not for profit company that prevents financial crimes. He is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Cyber Security.
He previously stood unsuccessfully for Parliament in Barrow (2015 and 2017).
Following the ‘partygate’ affair, Fell was linked in the media to the ‘pork pie’ plotters – a group of MPs elected in 2019 who were said to be concerned about the leadership of Boris Johnson.
Fell has served as Chairman of the Barrow and District Credit Union.‌ ‌ He is co Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Charities and Volunteering, and on Political Literacy. He is a supporter of the Tidy Britain Group.
Fell was an advocate for Brexit in the 2016 EU referendum. He is married with two children.
