London ‘ethnically cleansed’ of white people says Ukip candidate

Parts of London have been ethnically cleansed by immigration, a Ukip candidate has suggested.

Ukip's Harrow chairman Jeremy Zeid said Labour MP for Ilford Mike Gapes was complicit in removing "white faces" from the area.

"[Mike Gapes] is so busy being "right on" he is either blind to or deliberately complicit in the ethnic cleansing of Ilford," he tweeted.

Zeid added that he was "worried" by the lack of white people in the area.

"Having just been to [Ukip MEP] Gerard Batten's office in Ilford the almost absence of white faces in Ilford is worrying."

Zeid stood to become a councillor in Harrow last week, but received just four per cent of the vote.

Ukip failed to make any serious inroads across the capital, despite winning the national vote.

Asked why this was, their spokeswoman Suzanne Evans blamed it on the capital having "its own individual character."
