Heidi Alexander

Biography

Heidi Alexander entered parliament as Labour MP for Lewisham East on 6th May 2010 with a majority of 6,216, having been selected as Lewisham East's Labour Party Parliamentary Candidate in October 2009.

Heidi was a local Councillor and was been Lewisham's full-time Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Regeneration since 2006.

Heidi was Chair of London's leading economic development company, Greater London Enterprise (2007-9), and a director on Lewisham's Local Education Partnership.

Prior to this, Heidi was a campaign manager for Clothes Aid. She started her career working in Parliament for Joan Ruddock MP, now Minister for Energy and Climate Change.

Heidi has lived in the constituency of Lewisham East for the last 8 years with her partner Martin, a public sector lawyer. She went to Churchfields Comprehensive School in Swindon and has a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Change from the University of Durham.
