Test and Trace – A £37 billion ‘failure’

The test and trace system has become an integral part of our lives over the past year and a half, even governing if we can leave our own homes.

But despite costing £37 billion, the service has consistently failed to hit its own targets and has produced poor results.

Dr. Billy Palmer, senior fellow at the Nuffield Trust, said: “It could be doing more in terms of all aspects of being timely in terms of getting test results back, better performance in tracing people, and then better supporting people to self-isolate.”
