The government has released plans to tackle obesity, including a pre-9pm TV advertising ban on ‘junk food’, and introducing mandatory calorie labelling on menus.

These measures have received mixed responses, with some praising the attempts to address obesity, while others say it will negatively impact people with eating disorders.

Tom Quinn, director of external affairs at mental health charity BEAT, said: “It will harm people’s recovery, and unfortunately I think it will also exacerbate other people’s eating disorders.”
