Biography:

Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh was elected MP for Ochil and South Perthshire on May 7th 2015 with 26620 votes, taking 46.0% of the vote.

Tasmina is the SNP Trade and Investment spokesperson and Deputy Shadow Leader of the House in the House of Commons. Prior to her election, Tasmina has been an actress – performing for the Royal Shakespeare Company – and a model, alongside a solicitor and a businessperson.

She is the founder and chair of the Scottish Asian Women’s Association, which was officially launched on 19 April 2012. In July 2012, she joined the Advisory Board of Yes Scotland, cheering at a vote in favour of the independence of Scotland. In May 2014 she was the third candidate on the SNP’s list for the European Parliament election, but did not win a seat.
