Biography:
Benedict Gummer was re-elected as Conservative MP for Ipswich on May 7th 2015 with 21794 votes, taking 44.8% of the vote.
Ben has lived in Suffolk all his life. After studying at Cambridge University, Ben ran a small engineering firm.
He now runs a business that helps companies make a positive impact on society.
He lives in Ipswich, not far from Portman Road, and London, where his company is based. He is a fund-raiser for a charity that helps ex-prisoners go to university.
Ben was selected as the Conservative candidate for Ipswich in August 2007, and in the 2010 election he gained the largest majority of any Conservative in that constituency since 1935. In 2015 he was appointed Parliamentary Undersecretary of State for Health Services.
