Zarah Sultana urges the government to bring Royal Mail back into public ownership

In a Westminster Hall debate on Thursday, MPs discussed the future of Royal Mail and the universal service obligation.

The debate was put forward by Labour MP for Jarrow Kate Osborne.

Speaking in the debate Labour MP Zarah Sultana said: “The real problem isn’t workers going on strike. It’s the rigged economy that the Tories have built that forces workers to go on strike. I think this point is catching on. You only have to look at the polls. Across the board, the public backs the strikers”.

She added: “My message to the minister today and the Government is: end the failed experiment of privatisation and bring the Royal Mail back into public ownership or services.
