Work and Pensions Questions: David Linden on benefits

During work and pension questions, the SNP MP David Linden claimed that the chancellor “has no idea what it’s like to get by on poverty”, suggesting that the government follows that Scottish policy of “uplifting benefits by 6% with a fixed budget”.

The work and pensions secretary Therese  Coffey told the House that the government would “strive to get more people working”.

The secretary explained that the government’s strategy will try and “lift people out of poverty”.
