‘Things must change’ in government’s sibling sexual abuse strategy

In a Westminster Hall debate on sibling sexual abuse, Liberal Democrat Wera Hobhouse moved the motion by telling the government that “things must change” in its strategy.

Hobhouse explained that the government’s “whole system response does not acknowledge the existence of sibling sexual abuse” and that this acknowledgment is crucial in addressing the issue effectively.

The MP for Bath stressed that those who have suffered from childhood trauma could “pass trauma onto their children”, emphasising the importance of dealing with issues such as sibling sexual abuse effectively.
