Security expert warns of UK being drawn into crises in two hemispheres
During the international relations and defence select committee meeting, Lord Stirrup asked Professor Patrick Porter to address any “significant gaps” in the UK’s Defence capabilities and aspirations inquiry.
Porter warned of the potential for Britain to be “drawn into a crisis in Asia whilst also facing the deterioration of its own region”.
Increased UK involvement in the Indo-Pacific, Porter explained, could lead to the UK needing a “two hemisphere strategy with a one hemisphere navy”.
