Mongnall calls for fishing industry support as food security doubts continue

In a Westminster Hall debate, Conservative MP Anthony Mongnall opened proceedings with a speech in which he called for the government to “sure up” the fishing industry.

Mongnall told MPs that while the UK is in a time of “great need, we would do well to place our faith and support in those who can address the many challenges that we face”.

The MP for Totnes highlighted his concern for “angry, depressed fishermen” who are considering “packing it all in” and the impact that would have on UK food security.
