Lynch accuses the government of ‘daft’ approach to industrial dispute
General Secretary of the RMT Mick Lynch was invited to give evidence to the transport select committee on Tuesday, alongside fellow union leaders Mick Whelan of ASLEF and Frank Ward of the TSSA.
Mr Lynch accused the government of “sabotage” for placing clauses regarding Driver Only Operations (DOO) into a pay deal.
He said: “It’s just not very bright. … Why would you, if you’re seeking a solution to a serious industrial dispute as high profile, wait until a Sunday afternoon at 4:00 to put nine clauses into a document which weren’t in the previous version? It’s daft to me, it’s sabotage”.
