Hoare questions whether Good Friday Agreement could have happened in social media age

The House of Commons held a debate today to mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.

Speaking in the debate, chair of the Northern Ireland affairs select committee Simon Hoare said: “In a worrying learning point, during the course of the committee’s inquiry, former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, Tony Blair and John Major have all said that if social media had existed in 1998, they very much doubt that the Good Friday Agreement would have come to pass.
