David Davis urges government to delay ‘controversial’ bill

In a point of order, senior Conservative MP David Davis called on the caretaker government to delay an “extraordinarily controversial piece of legislation”.

Davis argued that the caretaker government should follow its pledge to avoid doing “anything controversial or or change politics”.  While he didn’t refer to it specifically, this point of order came before the online safety bill.

Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle told Davis that he as Speaker couldn’t do anything but told the House of Commons that he knows Davis “doesn’t give up quite so easily”.
