The Polls – no bounce for Labour after manifesto launch

Gordon Brown’s launch of Labour’s election manifesto did not significantly affect the party’s poll ratings.

A daily Sun/YouGov poll has the Conservatives and Labour both gaining two points up with the Tories holding a six point lead at 39% and Labour at 33%, the Liberal Democrats make no change at 20%.

A ComRes poll for ITV and The Independent shows an equal two point decrease for the Conservatives and Labour, giving the Tories 37 %and Labour 30%, with a four point gain for Lib Dems taking them to 20%.

This shows no change from a Com Res poll of March 30th.

The Guardian ICM poll shows the two point decrease for Labour (31%) with the Conservatives unchanged at 37%, Lib Dems have lost one point and are now at 20%. Other parties gained two points to go to 11%.

Translated to an election result, this would make the Tories the largest party, but without an overall majority; however new analysis based on polling data on PoliticsHome.co.uk says the Tories would have a 16 seat majority.

The Conservatives will be hoping for a boost as they launch their manifesto today, and the Liberal Democrats publish their plans for government tomorrow.
