Investigation continues on G20 death

The Independent Police Complaints Committee (IPCC) has released details of its investigation into the death of a man on the G20 protests last week.
Ian Tomlinson, 47, died at one of the several protests held to mark the G20 summit in London last Wednesday.
At the time, police reports indicated he had collapsed while inside the cordoned area preventing demonstrators from entering or leaving the protest.

But new eyewitness reports given to newspapers indicate Mr Tomlinson was thrown to the floor by police and then repeatedly struck with a baton.
“The officer hit him twice with a baton [while he was] on the floor,” Anna Branthwaite, a freelance photographer, told the Guardian.
“So it wasn’t just that the officer pushed him – it became an assault.”
Mr Tomlinson’s family have released a statement following the 47-year-old’s death, stating: “Ian came from a large, loving family and he will be sadly missed by us all. The police are keeping us informed of any developments.”
A post-mortem into Mr Tomlinson’s death claimed he died of natural causes.
The IPCC said it had looked at hours of CCTV footage since the incident was reported to them on April 1st but that the “decision will be kept under review as the investigation progresses”.
