‘No-one in the country thinks your border policy worked’

Priti Patel has come under fire over the home office’s record in dealing with covid at the borders, during a fiery session at the home affairs committee.

The home secretary was repeatedly asked by the chair, Yvette Cooper, about the department’s failings in dealing with covid.

Cooper told Patel: “I don’t think there’s anybody in the country who thinks that your border policy worked to prevent the delta variant spreading across the country.”
