‘Women take responsibility’: Dorries on gender disparities in BBC fee conviction rate

The Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Nadine Dorries, has been quizzed by the DCMS Committee over her push to privatise Channel 4.

When asked by Conservative MP Damian Green over why she refused to appear on Channel 4 to discuss the matter of its privatisation, she hit back that it was “her choice” as to what media outlets she appeared on.

She was also questioned by John Nicolson MP on her attitude toward the BBC licence fee, during which she said more women than men had been convicted for failing to pay the fee “because women take responsibility”.
